Unbecoming
My 1st collection is “Unbecoming”.
On a personal level, it marks an important turning point in my life. On a more universal level, I believe the journey I am sharing is one that everyone can relate to.
Inside this collection there are 3 phases or periods. The “Unbecoming” phase is dominated by dark textured metallic paintings. This signifies the suffering, the shedding and the letting go. The “Threshold” phase, embodied by bluey green hues, expresses the turning point, the transition or an “overcoming”. The “Becoming” phase is all about the release, the freedom, and the arrival. This plays with fiery reds and yellows, signifying a journeying into the light - the “coming home” to oneself.
I began this self-transformation about 10 years ago, after a long painful betrayal followed by loss. During this time, I read many books on self discovery and started doing the "inner" work. I learned so much and one of my biggest insights was the concept of "Unbecoming". I had not thought about unbecoming anything. I had always thought I needed to become someone who was "better" or "different" or "more of" something. This insight was a great entry point to my inner journey. It made me realize that maybe this "inner transformation" is not about becoming anything...but rather peeling off the "stuff" that no longer serves you, that hides your true authnticity. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you, so that you can become who you were meant to be. This insight became my North star.
Here began my mission to “un-become”, to reconnect & come home to myself. Once I could return "home to myself" I was ready to "become" who I was always meant ot be in the first place.
I believe all of us is on a journey to “un-become” from something or someone. I hope you find something from the “Unbecoming” collection that speaks to you.
These scarves are original abstract artworks that are consciously crafted to order by a premier textile studio in London, ensuring zero waste. These are more than just scarves; they each come with their own “story”. You can select the scarf that echoes your own narrative and mirrors your own identity. Find the story that resonates with you.
